GLYCOLYS®

Sodium Starch Glycolate USP/NF, EP, JPE

Sodium Starch Glycolate is the sodium salt of cross-linked carboxymethyl ether of starch. It is a white-to-off-white, odourless, tasteless, free flowing powder which is sparingly soluble in 95% ethanol and practically insoluble in water. GLYCOLYS® is potato starch based and has the capacity to swell upto 300 times it’s original volume in water, a property that attributes to it’s use as a superdisintegrant.

Roquette has been producing SSG for more than 20 years now and has developed different grades of GLYCOLYS to meet the specific needs of viscosity, moisture, pH or solvent-free properties.

Glycolys

Standard grade SSG - Type A

Super disintegrant for solid dosage forms. Used in both wet granulation and direct
compression processes.

Glycolys LVLow viscosity grade SSG - Type ADesigned to withstand high shear in wet granulation processes.
Glycolys Low pHAcid stable grade SSG - Type BDesigned to resist acidic pH and stabilize products containing strongly acidic drugs.
