Hydroxypropyl Betadex (HPBCD) are purified polydisperse products resulting from controlled reaction of propylene oxide and native betadex under base catalysis. By virtue of its amorphous polydisperse composition, it overcomes the low solubility and inadequate biological tolerance of the native betacyclodextrin.
