Kollicoat IR is a polyvinyl alcohol-polyethylene glycol graft copolymer with the addition of colloidal silica. It is a water soluble film forming agent, ideal for manufacturing instant release coatings for solid dosage forms. The key features of this innovative excipient are low viscosity of the polymer solution, outstanding flexibility of the film coating without the addition of plasticizers and extremely rapid coating dissolution in the body. In terms of viscosity alone, this new technology offers significant advantages over cellulose derivatives.
