KOLLICOAT® MAE
Methacrylic acid / Ethyl acrylate copolymer USP/NF, EP, JPE Kollicoat MAE 30 DP and Kollicoat MAE 100P are anionic polymers based on methacrylic acid and methacrylic acid esters and are used as film-formers for the production of enteric coatings for solid dosage forms. The ratio of carboxyl groups to ester units is about 1:1. The films are insoluble below pH 5 and thus resistant to gastric fluid. By salt formation in the neutral to weakly alkaline medium of intestinal fluid, the films dissolve step-wise at pH values above 5.5.
